Car Insurance Volvo (Car Insurance). Tank scooter problem?

Tank scooter problem? I was looking at a craigslist add for mopeds. I came accross a moped for hella cheap. But it says it drives for about 100 yards then dies, then starts back up again. What could cause this? Thanks

1st guess would be a loose vacuum line between the carb and the vacuum controlled fuel valve... a very easy fix. Usually if it runs well at all, then making it stay running is going to be easy. If it's a great deal, go for it! Enough mystery to prevent me from buying it. Truthfully it could be a bunch of things but with out seeing it all I can do is guess. Here are a few possibilities. 1. The vent in the gas cap is plugged which temporarily stops gas flow, 2. the fuel filter is partially plugged which does the same thing as number 1. 3. There may be something wrong with one of the ignition components when it becomes hot. Well good luck on whatever you decide. As a mechanic myself I would not be afraid to buy it, but if you have no experience or tools it may be better to look elsewhere.

Volvo . How to Remove Car Parts to Reach the Fuel Filter

There are a few things you must do before changing your fuel filter. In today's day and age, cars are fuel injected. If your car has fuel injection, you will have anywhere from 32 to 60 pounds per square inch (p.s.i.) of pressure in the fuel lines.
Difficulty:Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Step by Step :
1
Generally, there are no parts to remove to replace the fuel filter. The fuel filter is generally located underneath the car. It could be towards the rear of the car or the middle of the car. It could be on the left or the right. The easiest way to find it is to follow the fuel lines from the fuel tank to the filter. If you do not see the fuel filter under the car, you will need to look for it near the firewall in the engine compartment.
2
Once you have located the fuel filter and you have determined that you have the correct fuel filter, you will need to ensure that you have the proper tools to remove the fuel filter. Most fuel filters have locks on them that require a special tool (a fuel filter disconnect) to get them off. They come in different sizes. Be sure you have the correct size before you start.
3
You should now know that you have the correct filter and the correct tools to do the job. You need to release the fuel pressue in the fuel line. There are three ways to do this, depending on your car. Look for a schrader valve on the fuel line in the engine compartment. Take the cap off, and using a screwdriver, gently push the schrader in. Doing this will spray gasoline all over the place. It is advised that you have a rag ready to catch some of the spray. If your car does not have a schrader valve, you can losen a nut on one of the fuel lines. Again, because of the pressure in the fuel lines, you will get sprayed with gas. Have a rag ready to catch some of the spray. The third way can be the easiest way or the most difficult way. It would be to unplug the fuel pump from its power source. If you have a fuel pump access under the rear seat, this is the method you should use. Disconnect the wires going into the fuel pump. Be sure not to touch them to each other or ground them out by touching both to metal. Once the fuel pump is disconnected, turn the engine over a few times.
4
After you release the pressre in the fuel lines, you are now ready to change your fuel filter. Place a "catch bucket" under the fuel filter. When you remove the filter, it will be full of gas. Using the disconnect, remove the filter. Replace the new filter, making sure the flow is going in the right direction. Look for the arrow on the filter - the arrow should be pointing towards the front of the car.
5
Reconnect the hoses, making sure you have a good connection. If you unhooked your fuel pump, hook it back up (make sure the key is off before you do this!)To save some wear and tear on your starter, prime the fuel lines by turning the key on for two seconds and turn it off for 5 seconds. Repeat three times.
Tips & Warnings
Be careful when releasing the pressure from the fuel lines that the fuel does not spray in your face.

Do not re-use the rags you used to catch the fuel. Dispose of them properly. Putting them into the washer and dryer may cause a fire.

If disconnecting the fuel pump to release the pressure, be sure the key is OFF before disconnecting and reconnecting.

Volvo . How to Make Biodiesel

Biodiesel is one of the very best ways to reduce your dependency on foreign oil. Some older diesel engines can run off of straight used vegetable oil, but not all vehicles can. If you want to run a modern, efficient and clean diesel engine on biofuel, then you should convert vegetable oil into biodiesel, and convert your vehicle to run on it. Here's how to do it.
Difficulty:Challenging
Instructions Things You'll Need
Source oil
Filtering system
Warming and preparation vessel that can stir
99 percent pure methanol
Measuring pipettes and beakers
95 percent pure sulphuric acid
Prepared methoxide mixture
Glass sampling vessel
Washing vessel
Washing water
10 percent pure phosphoric acid
Aerator
Holding container
Fuel storage containerFirst Stage to Make Biodiesel

Step by Step :
1
Filter your oil to remove particulates such as bits of burned French fries. Use a series of filter screens. You can buy clean, unused oil if you wish to skip this part of the process.
2
Remove water from the oil by warming it to 60 degrees C and hold it there for 15 minutes. Pour the oil into a settling tank and let it separate for 24 hours. Then drain the water from below or drain the oil from above.
3
Measure your oil precisely, and heat it until all the solids have melted. It is imperative that you know how much oil you are using so that your proportions will be correct with all of the other ingredients.
4
Add 99 or higher percent pure methanol to the oil. Use a ratio of 8 percent methanol to the total amount of oil.
5
Blend the methanol into the oil for at least 5 minutes. The oil/methanol mixture will become cloudy at this stage.
6
Add 1 ml of concentrated (95 percent pure) sulphuric acid for every liter of oil. Sulphuric acid is extremely powerful and dangerous, so take every safety precaution when handling it.
7
Stir the mixture gently for an hour at 35 degrees C. The remove the heat source and continue stirring gently for another 2 hours. Allow it to sit for at least 8 hours or longer.
8
Lightly reheat the mixture if any of it has solidified while it rested. Pour half of a 12 percent volume prepared methoxide mixture into the oil and mix for 5 minutes.
Second Stage to Make Biodiesel

Step by Step :
1
Warm the oil mixture to 55 degrees C and keep it at that temperature for this entire stage.
2
Add the remainder of the prepared methoxide and stir it gently.
3
Drain off glycerin, from the bottom of the vessel if possible. Start draining 20 to 25 minutes after the beginning of this reaction.
4
Take samples every few minutes to gauge the progress. When the mixture becomes yellow, which generally happens between 1 ½ and 2 ½ hours, stop mixing and turn off the heat. Settle the mixture for an hour.
Third Stage to Make Biodiesel

Step by Step :
1
Prepare your washing water in another vessel. Add 10 percent pure phosphoric acid to the water in the amount of 2 to 3 ml/L. The volume of water should be 33 percent the volume of biodiesel.
2
Add your biodiesel to the washing vessel. Be certain the temperatures of both the water and the oil are similar.
3
Insert an air bubbler, such as an aquarium stone. Allow it to operate for at least 24 hours.
4
Turn off the aerator and allow the mixture to settle and separate for half an hour. The water will settle to the bottom of the vessel and appear white.
5
Drain off the water. Repeat this washing procedure two more times.
6
Remove the biodiesel from the washing vessel. Do not allow it to contact the now separated water, or you will need to allow the fuel and the washing water to separate again.
7
Allow the biodiesel to stand until it clarifies, a process which takes up to three weeks.
8
Place the biodiesel into an appropriate holding tank. Prevent any deposits that accumulate from getting into your vehicle's fuel tank.
9
You have just made biodiesel! Use it in your car, and know that you are doing a good thing for the environment. Enjoy the smell of French fries coming from your tailpipe.
Tips & Warnings
Practice this process first on a small, 1 liter amount. You will learn what to look for and how to proceed.

Many of the chemicals in this manufacturing process are extremely hazardous. Take every precaution if you try to make biodiesel.

It's a good idea to ask each body shop you consult whether they plan to replace large, damaged areas with sheet-metal body panels welded in place of the old ones, or if they plan to straighten the old panels and finish them with a thin skin of plastic body filler wherever necessary. nooks and crannies, and — if you're foolish enough to simply paint over it goes right on with its deadly work unseen. This imagery may seem unduly grim, but I honestly believe that, over the years, more fine vehicles have given way to the ravages of rust than have been demolished in accidents. The first line of defense against rust is to wash and wax your vehicle regularly. See Chapter 23 for tips on doing these and other cleaning chores. Checking for rust If you live in an area where the streets are still salted in winter, where it rains or snows a great deal, or near the seashore — in other words, anywhere your car is exposed to moisture and/or salt — you must be especially vigilant about detecting and getting rid of rust quickly. However, even if you live in a dry climate, you must still make a habit of checking carefully every few months. If you find rust forming, get rid of it before it can do major damage. Chapter 24: Getting Rid of Dings, Dents, and Other Hard Knocks The paint on your car is there not only for beauty, but for protection as well. Paint and clear-coat finishes help retard rust. As long as your paint job is unmarred, metal body surfaces are safe. But something as seemingly innocuous as a small scratch that nobody but you notices can spell the beginning of trouble. Check the following trouble spots: v0 Small scratches, nicks, and spots where the paint may have flaked off:

Volvo . Will my chevy 454 run on e-85 fuel?

Volkswagen Cabrio.
*
If you find any, touch up the paint in those areas before rust can form on the bare metal. You can find instructions in the "Priming and Painting" section later in this chapter. v0 Dark spots in the paint, which may indicate that the metal is rusting out from underneath: If you find these spots, read the following section, called "Dealing with any rust you find," to find out how to take care of the problem. V Pitted places in the paint and on the chrome and metal trim: Treat these spots with rust remover, following the directions on the package. With most rust removers, you simply apply the paste or liquid, let it work for several minutes, and then wash it off thoroughly. Look for a rust remover that's safe to use on painted surfaces, and test the stuff on a small hidden area first to make sure that it doesn't affect the color — no matter what the package says. ? ^ Another prime breeding ground for rust is anyplace on a vehicle where grime, ^~^ dirt, or salt can accumulate. These areas are usually around fenders, under trim, and so on. Pay special attention to the following places when you look for rust: * Each time you wash the car, take a flashlight and check around the fenders, in the wheel wells, and behind the bumpers. Accumulated salt, mud, and dirt will accelerate rust's growth. 0 Shine the light into the little crevices between the car body and all the trim and moldings that are affixed to it. Dirt and moisture tend to collect in these areas. Look all around the lights, the windows, the side mirrors, the sunroof, and the antenna, too. * If you live in a damp area, check the metal surfaces inside the car. Don't forget to check around the window frames. One of the most insidious places where rust forms is under your car, where you can't see it. Next time you have the car serviced, have them put it up on the hoist and check its underbody thoroughly. If you're afraid that the service people won't be thorough enough, ask your favorite mechanic to put the vehicle up and let you have a look around. (While you're at it, get the mechanic to show you all the fascinating things under there — the transmission, the oil pan, the brake lines, the emergency brake, the differential, and so on — if you don't already know where to find them. It's quite an education!)

Part V: Helping Your Car Look Its Best Even if you have a car with a fiberglass (and therefore rustproof) body, the underbody is metal and, therefore, still the most sensitive area where rust is concerned. I have ridden in venerable old cars where the floorboards had rusted through so completely that you could see the road flash by under neath. And if rust attacks the frame, the car can be on its way to the Great Car Lot in the Sky before you know it. Dealing vOith any rust you find Okay, the worst has happened: You've found some rust spots on your car. Don't panic: You still have time to save the patient — unless the rust has gone too far. If the rust is underneath the car, on the underside of the body or bumpers where it doesn't show, or still confined to very small areas that can be touched up easily, you can probably take care of the matter yourself. Here's what to do: 1. Gently scrape away the rust with a single-edged razor blade or fine sandpaper.

Volvo . Is there gold in car airbags?

Yugo GV.
*
For slightly larger painted areas, use a brush with stiff (but not metal) bristles. Use coarse sandpaper to grind the rust off large areas that are out of sight and not surrounded by paint. Always work inward from the edges to avoid extending the area by damaging the paint. Don't make a large job out of a small one by carelessly damaging the surrounding paint! Rust remover can make this job easier if you apply it after you get the crusty stuff off the surface. 2. After you've removed all the rust, apply some rust arrester to keep the rust from spreading further. Rust, like fire, is a form of oxidation. Products like Meta-Prep and Extend change the chemical nature of the rust and prevent it from further oxidizing the metal. You just brush or spray on most rust arrestors, wait for them to turn from white to black, and then wash them off thoroughly. (Be sure to follow the directions on the package.) 3. As soon as the area is dry, prime and paint it to protect the surface and restore it to its former beauty. See the upcoming "Priming and Painting" section for details. If you see large rust holes in the body of the vehicle, or if the frame has been badly weakened, get a couple of estimates from reliable body shops on what repairing the damage would cost. Then check those estimates against what your vehicle is worth by calling your local bank, insurance company, or loan
